Literary analysis 3

The battle of the labyrinth
In the battle of the labyrinth Percy, annabeth, and Grover go into the labyrinth to find its creator before Luke's army does and attacks camp half blood from the inside. While they search the labyrinth  they come across the god Janus who makes them choose between two door one way will kill them the other will lead them to the creator. The god Hera comes to the rescue and makes Janus go away. Finally after days of searching the group finds the creator who agrees to let himself die and destroy his labyrinth, in the process half of Luke's army is destroyed but the evil Titan lord Kronos is finally brought back to the real world from Tartarus.

I think the characters are a little static in this story and not really growing any. In my opinion this book was a little boring but it was just leading up to the big finale

Literary analysis 2

The Titans Curse
In the titans curse Percy, Grover, annabeth, and Thalia find two new demigods named Bianca and nico de Anglo. The group gets a prophecy to save the goddess Artemis in San Francisco. While on their way to SF they end up running into Artemis's hunters also trying to save the goddess. On the way Bianca swears her alliance to the hunters and becomes immortal. In Hephaestus's junk yard Bianca is killed by a giant automaton. When in San fransisco the group finds that Luke's evil ship the princess andromeda is in San fransisco and has a whole army of monsters. The group led by Percy infiltrates the defenses and saves the goddess Artemis who then transports them to a near by airport to return home.
I think the theme of the novel is too never give up. Like when Bianca dies the group wants to return home but they keep going to save the goddess. The tone of the story is happy and exciting, you cannot out down this book. There is a lot of metaphors and smilies in this story.
After reading this story I believe that I definitely have met a person who is very dynamic not just changing from start to finish but from almost every other chapter he knows something new, acts a little older and more mature leading this group of kids

the big Q

so everyone is writing "What is the meaning of life?" and honesly, i could care less what the meaning is. It's my life and im giong to live it my way, now im not talking Yolo i mean i coulf care less the the meaning is. I have many questions but nothing that strikes me as 'The big One' yeah i wonder where will i be in life. How do i get the career i want with the classes im given at school. I also wonder about the books im reading or have red. Like Pirate Cinema by cory doctorow, i read the first couple chapters up to page like 55 and its pretty good actually definitly not the kind of book i would usually ready (harry potter, percyjackson, hungergames etc.) i wonder how many other books are out like that. idk i actually went home sick today and im really still not feeling good. so ima wrap it up with that. i really kinda improv'd on what i wrote from class today. idk i dont have any big Q's things change every hour so you never know :) ima go to bed. lol

language is a symbol
symbol's are a series of codes.

meanings signs and symbols

Without signs, we have no meaning.
meaning is the connection we make with a sign

Baby's have no meaning. Only feleings like pleasure or pain.
A sign can only be a sign if it is interpreted. smoke in the sky makes you think fire. Smoke is a sign
Dark clouds. makes you think rain and lightning
Thought, sign, and refernt are the 3 things that go with signs and meaning

I think it is crazy how our mind makes these connections so fast. we dont even have to thing about it when we see a sign. it just jumps to the next thing. like dark clouds.. uh oh it might rain
or maybe no clouds at all with a bright sun. it might be hot today.

Reflections of week 1

1) i do not think there are anythings that can affect my participation in this english class. I have an ipad and iphone. Laptop. A ride (or walk) to school everyday

2) okay so my Awesome learning experience was the one that hopefully changes my whole career. A couple years ago i met my brothers, wife's, dad. Mr. Ed Mandibles, now Mr. Ed is a pilot. and he took me up flying once in like 6th grade. He pretty much did the take off and from then on i was in control of the aircraft up to landing at the Lompoc airport. Ever since then i have been going flying with him and learning about flying. If i had the money i would already have my pilots license. but i can take off the plane. navigate the plane. Controll the plane i turbulance. and safely land the plane. Now ever since that time when i was a kid, i have wanted to be a pilot for the Military. There is really nothing like learning hands on in an aircraft 500 feet above the ground.

3) What am i most excited about learning in this class? im not sure honestly. just teach me what i need to know and let me be on my way. And in most english classes. they dont teach much so i dont know what to expect from you yet.

Vocab& first week&opinion

Vocab
So you are having us adambrate our vocab to tell about our first week in school. Well today was definitially the apotheosis of the week, thats for sure. TGIF!! My exoectations is to be a little more open-minded and see what happens, I expect to learn alot in all of my classes. I have a full plate this year so im going to try to do the best i can, but when my sports start i think things might get tough. Especially swim just because of the time we have to put into the sport. Man this vocab thing is tough trying to mix in the vocab words. The best way to sum up this week is to say. Damn am i glad its the weeked. My summer was very short and lame because i took a summer school class to get ahead on a class. The program was almost the whole summer 7 hours a day infront of a computer. So im a little dissapointed and just want to get Jr. year over, with good grades.
Okay. my opinion on "The right to your opinion" what the heck!?!? That is just crazy, just reading one little thing made me change the way i think about certain things. In the way that the author wrote it, There is no arguement for someone to oppose his idea. So. i dont know how to fit in all the other words into this vocab quiz.. Ascetic, bauble, beguile, burgeon, complement, contumacios, curmudgeon, didactic. There we go! i know, i know. Not what you meant by "put the words in" but  that is definitally an A+ for effort.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

My reasons for taking this class is to mature in my knowledge of the english language. Learn proper grammar. It is also needed to get into a four year college, which i hope to attend right out of highschool under a USAF ROTC scholarship.
What am i excited about? I am excited about growing up and getting out there in life. I want to be a pilot, flying mach 2 above the clouds fighing for my country. thats what gets me excited. And of course, what makes me nervous? Speaking infront of a class room, and also reading for the whole class to hear. my BIGGEST fear in the ENTIRE world, and i have no idea why. I have no problem co-piloting a single prop. plane without a door with a family friend. but I cannot go infront of a class of my peer's and give a speech.
My goals for this course is to learn more about american literature and to pass this class with a B+, or an A. Another goal i have is to maybe learn stuff about blogging and making new friends. The idea of blogging sounds fun, especially if i get a larger audience. Do you have any ideas on how to get followers?
How do i expect my my knowledge and thinking to be improved by this course? Honestly i do not know. You seem to be a VERY real teacher and say's things true and how they are in the real world.
